Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Buff, two keys addorsed wars up Sable, the bows conjoined and braced by two sabers saltirewise points down Or.  Attached below the shield a Red and Gold scroll inscribed "WARRIOR SUPPORT" in Gold letters.

Symbolism
Buff and scarlet are the colors traditionally associated with Support organizations.  Black stands for strength and security.  The mission of providing advance or rear guard support is represented by the two keys, back to back, intertwined to indicate singleness of purpose.  The sabers, standing for the individual soldier, are interlaced with the keys to denote unity and cooperation.  Scarlet also stands for courage and gold for excellence.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 1 October 1991.

Issuing from a wreath of the colors, Argent and Buff, an oriental demi-dragon Gules holding in its claws an oriental spear Or.

Symbolism

Shield

Buff and scarlet are traditionally associated with Support organizations.  Black stands for strength and security, gold for excellence.  The keys, addorsed and intertwined, stand for the support mission of providing advance and rear guard action to sustain a force in battle, represented by the crossed sabers.  The sabers also stand for the individual soldier.

Crest

The dragon represents service in Vietnam, where the 225th Support Battalion participated in the Counteroffensive, Phase VII.  It holds a spear symbolizing combat.  Red stands for courage and sacrifice, gold for excellence.

The coat of arms was approved on 1 October 1991.
